PATIENTS GROAN AS HEALTH WORKERS SHUTDOWN EKSUTHPatients at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti were on Monday left unattended to as members of the Joint Health Workers Union shut down the institution. The aggrieved workers locked the major entrances to the hospital, thus preventing all other workers from gaining access to the hospital. The action of the workers is sequel to the alleged failure of government to attend to their demands as confirmed by JOHESU Chairperson, Comrade Omotola Farotimi. She said:It’s a long time matter which government has failed to resolve over the years.“It includes non remittance of our coperative deductions, special levies, union dues and implementation of minimum wage.“We are being owed deductions runing to two years and we are getting tired.“This development has left to brain drain, as many of our best hands have left for greener pastures.“We signed an MOU with government that every approval for staff of Federal Teaching Hospital by government would be given to us but we are yet to get minimum wage which has been approved since 2019.“The last board approved it but the management failed to pay.“It is disheartening that despite our sacrifices we have been treated so badly by successive governments.Mrs Farotimi said the demonstration would continue until government do the needful. Some relatives of patients who spoke described the development as painful as patients were the ones bearing the brunt.
Paris Club Saga:NGF Fires Back at Ned NwokoThe Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, has debunked claims by Ned Nwoko on behalf of the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, and Paris Club Consultants, on the alleged misappropriation of USD418.9m from the public treasury of the States and Local Governments. In a statement by Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, Director, Media and Public Affairs, NGF, described Nwoko’s statement as desperate and efforts in futility by dishing out lies. The NGF reiterated that it will continue to protect Nigerians from being deprived unlawfully of resources meant for their development noting that they remain an apolitical organisation. They went further to state unequivocally that it has not been involved in any receipt of USD $100mx or any funds from Nwoko to finance any elections in any state of the Federation. While berating the role of the AGF in this saga, they maintained that the Chairman of NGF has stood his ground on the unconstitutional and unlawlful nature of claims by the consultants by refusing to be compromised. The statement read in part: “Not surprisingly, the desperate, spurious and futile advocacy mounted and coordinated by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) on behalf of the so-called Paris Club Consultants to justify the plundering of the humongous sum of USD418.9m from the public treasury of the States and Local Governments continued on Saturday 20th August 2022, when Ned Nwoko, in a press statement attempted to blur and obfuscate the real facts and legal issues in controversy by dishing out blatant lies and half-truths. “The use of libelous language on the person of the Chairman of NGF who has refused to be compromised and has firmly stood his ground on the unconstitutional and unlawful nature of the consultants’ claims is not helpful to their case either.“The NGF is an apolitical organization that operates under defined principles targeted at good governance. Its role in the whole of this Paris Club refund debacle to consultants is to ensure that Nigeria citizens are not unlawfully deprived of resources meant for their development.“NGF will not therefore waste its valuable time to defend unsubstantiated allegations against individuals or persons who are in a position to defend themselves. If NED is sure of his facts, he is at liberty to approach the necessary authorities to bring to justice any person or persons and all conspirators (including himself) who were allegedly involved in misappropriating public resources for campaign financing.“The NGF hereby states unequivocally that it has not at any time been involved in or been in receipt of USD$100m or any other funds from NED Nwoko to finance elections in any State.“The NGF and its leadership remain focused and determined to diligently pursue all appeals on the Judgments on the Paris Club refunds. All that it request of the AGF and the consultants is to allow the appeal processes to run and be exhausted.“We urge NED and the other consultants to end the media war and direct all energies towards defending the appeals.”

Your Blackmail Won’t Upturn Oyebanji’s Victory…APC Chieftain Knocks Segun OniYour persistent blackmails against the Ekiti governor elect, Biodun Oyebanji and the Independent National Electoral won’t earn you undeserved victory at the Election Petition Tribunal. This is the word of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State, Hon. Adesola Gold Adedayo to the Social Democratic Party’s governorship candidate, Engr Segun Oni.Adedayo said it sounded spurious, hypocritical and demeaning for the Segun Oni’s legal team to be concocting lies and making incendiary comments against Oyebanji and the All Progressives Congress, claiming that they were allegedly planning to tinker with the election materials at INEC to pervert justice. The Osun -Ekiti born former Senior Legislative Assistant at the National Assembly, condemned such vituperations, saying Oyebanji won the June 18 poll and needed no shady help from INEC to triumph over Oni and SDP on their ruinous voyage at the Tribunal.Segun Oni’s campaign organisation and legal team, through a senior Lawyer, Owoseeni Ajayi, had last week accused Oyebanji, APC and INEC of planning to secretly inspect some materials at the commission to alter some records and put Oni in a disadvantaged position in the prosecution of his case.Disproving the claim by urging Oni to stop acting like “attack dog” in the prosecution of his case, Adedayo, in a statement, on Sunday, posited that no amount of blackmail would sway the judiciary to award unmerited victory to the former governor .The APC stalwart said Oni lost scandalously even in his Ido/Osi local government in the last election, which he said confirmed how acceptable the APC’s candidate, Biodun Oyebanji was to the electorate.Adedayo added that Oyebanji’s winning streak and margin of victory was not only stunning, but enigmatic in the election trajectory in Ekiti, describing these as suffice to inform Oni and his ilk that they were only embarking on a voyage of futility .The Aviation expert said: “Let Segun Oni and SDP handlers, who erroneously shared the views that propaganda can earn them backdoor victory in this judicial battle to study the trajectory of election and draw their inferences .“The June 18 election had the highest margin of victory in the history of Ekiti. Hon Biodun Oyebanji trounced Segun Oni with a total of 105,000 votes. This had never happended in Ekiti since 1999.“Again, Biodun Oyebanji recorded the highest number of spread winning in 15 out of 16 local governments . Let those who are about constituting themselves into troublers of Israel to also check their election records and confirm whether any contestant had ever beaten this enigmatic record.“It was shameful that Segun Oni even lost in his Ido/Osi Council , which confirmed how rejected he was. Even the candidate of the PDP, Bisi Kolawole, who came distant third manifested high level of acceptability, by winning in his base at Efon Local Local Government.“It was lucid and well amplified by the margin and spread of victory that Oyebanji was the choice of the Ekiti electorate and he has no reason to engage INEC in any shady deal to pervert or subvert justice in this matter”.Adedayo counseled Oni and SDP against spewing blackmail and propaganda to sway the Tribunal members, saying election petition is won based on the quantum of evidence provided, which he said Oni lacks in this matter.A good litigant, who is well armed with avalanche of evidence that have probative values won’t be relying on propaganda as Oni and SDP had been doing.“Their recent outbursts indicated that they were only out to cause confusion in the system and discredit the election, and not to upturn Biodun Oyebanji’s victory, because they lack the evidence to substantiate all their claims”, he said.
