Get N50,000 If You Expose Kidnappers – Akeredolu Tells ResidentsPosted by Thandiubani on Wed 17th Aug, 2022 The governor said government would protect anybody who reports or gives useful information about criminal activities in his area. Residents of Ondo state have been promised N50,000 for anyone who provides information that will lead to capture of kidnappers and criminals in the state. Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu made the promise through Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, after the weekly State Executive Council. He explained that the move was aimed at encouraging citizens to give useful and timely information about criminal activities in any part of the state. “From now on, anyone who reports a crime and we follow the trail, and it leads to a successful prosecution of the criminal, that person will be offered a reward of N50,000. “We want people in Ondo state to say something when they see something. We want our people to be proactive in the area of security to rid Ondo State of criminals, bandits and terrorists. “The Toll Free line is 0800-555-5555. Anybody can call to give security tips and report any criminal activities in his or her area.” He said government would protect anybody who reports or gives useful information about criminal activities in his area.

The match played at the Ataoja School of Science, Osogbo on Wednesday, saw the Coach Femi Kumuyi tutored boys dominated the game but failed to convert their chances. Pelumi Abegunde broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute after a delightful cross from the left flank to give Ekiti Bees the needed lead and the maximum point on the opening day of the competition. Ekiti Bees will be facing Oyo State who had earlier defeated Lagos State 2-1 on Thursday by 2pm, a win for boys will see the team grab one of the semi final tickets, with a match to spare.

BREAKING: ASUU, FG Meeting DeadlockedBy Innocent Oweh On Aug 16, 2022…Adamu May Present Grievances Of ASUU Before FEC WednesdayABUJA – The truce meeting between the Federal Government and executive members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has ended in deadlock. DAILY INDEPENDENT has reliably gathered.Stakeholders at the meeting which involved the professor Nimi Briggs led committee and ASUU officials failed to reach any meaningful resolution after the meeting which lasted several hours at the University of Abuja campus.A source privy to the meeting noted that the Nimi Briggs committee failed to come with any commitment to resolve the strike rather was appealing to the union to suspend the strike.Other unions also engaged in strike include the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Non Academic Staff Union of University and Allied Institutions (NASU) and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT).There were initial signs that all the parties involved in the stalemate that has lasted for over six months were ready to come to a compromise, since the President had mandated the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu to intervene within two weeks.DAILY INDEPENDENT however gathered that some of the demands which ASUU insists must be met may be tabled for extensive deliberations at Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council meeting usually presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.Recall that while ASUU insists on continuation of its indefinite strike with frequent reviews to elongate the action, a situation that appeals to be causing the Federal Government serious embarrassment.The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo had in a recent chat with reporters, called the bluff of ASUU saying the government was not in a position to borrow over N1trillion to settle the lecturers.Recall also that ASUU recently announced an extension of their strike action by another four weeks, further dimming hopes of students to return to classrooms.This is coming as the roll-over strike expired on July 31, 2022, a development that may have further compounded the woes of university undergraduates.ASUU President, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, had disclosed the union’s decision, in a press statement titled, “Review Of The Roll-over Strike.”He said the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Union took the decision after extensive deliberations and taking cognisance of government’s past failures to abide by its own timelines in addressing issues raised in the 2020 FGN/ASUU Memorandum of Action (MoA).Osodeke said NEC resolved that the strike be rolled over for four weeks to give government more time to satisfactorily resolve all the outstanding issues.The role-over strike action, according to him, is with effect from 12.01a.m. on Monday, August 14, 2022.Those With Pain In The Joints Of The Knees And Hips, Read This!ArthrazexWhat If You Invested $250 In Amazon A Year Ago? Nigerian universities must not be reduced to constituency projects that merely exist on paper and our scholars must be incentivised to stay back and do what they know best, here in Nigeria.“NEC appreciated the historic nationwide protest of 26th and 27th July, 2022 organised by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in collaboration with Civil Society Organisations (CSO) to further create awareness on the antics of the Nigerian ruling class to destroy public education. ASUU renews its commitment to the struggles of NLC in championing the cause of the working and suffering Nigerians.“NEC observed that non-signing of the draft renegotiated 2009 FGN-ASUU Agreement more than one month after it was concluded by Professor Nimi Briggs-led Committee is further tasking the patience of ASUU members nationwide.“NEC further observed that the on-going trial of the suspended Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Mr. Ahmed Idris, on allegation of monumental fraud has vindicated ASUU’s rejection of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information (IPPIS). The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is enjoined to release reports of the latest tests on the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) vis-à-vis IPPIS without further delay. ASUU shall resist any attempt to truncate the deployment of UTAS with all legitimate means available to the Union.“NEC noted that cumulative indifference by the political class gave vent to pervasive atmosphere of insecurity which now threatens seamless provision of educational services in the country. The unceremonious closure of educational institutions in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), following the recent attack on Presidential Guards, betrays a panicky measure to addressing a malignant ailment. Nothing short of a comprehensive overhaul of the security architecture of the country will sustainably address the problem.“Following extensive deliberations and taking cognisance of Government’s past failures to abide by its own timelines in addressing issues raised in the 2020 FGN/ASUU Memorandum of Action (MoA), NEC resolved that the strike be rolled over for four weeks to give Government more time to satisfactorily resolve all the outstanding issues. The role-over strike action is with effect from 12.01a.m. on Monday, 14 August, 2022.”

Why Obi, Wike meet again in RiversThe presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Peter Obi, hurried to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Monday immediately he was told that the reconciliation team from Governor Nyesom Wike’s camp was in the State, The Nation has gathered.It was learnt members of Wike’s team had arrived Port Harcourt to wait for the team from the camp of the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, for a scheduled reconciliation talk when they heard that Atiku’s team was not coming.A source, who was in Port Harcourt with one of the Wike’s team members, said the Wike’s team was disappointed that Atiku’s camp postponed the meeting without adequately communicating to them.The source, who spoke in confidence, mentioned members of Team Wike, who were in Port Harcourt as Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue, former Governors Donald Duke, Olusegun Mimiko, Senator Olaka Nwogu, Dan Obi and PDP candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Nnenna Ukeje among others.The source said: “There was supposed to be a reconciliation meeting between the team of Governor Nyesom Wike and that of the PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar. The meeting was supposed to hold at Wike’s private residence in Port Harcourt.”While team Wike was present, the team of Atiku Abubakar did not come. They didn’t communicate any shift of the meeting to Team Wike. The Wike’s team was already in Port Harcourt when they learnt that Atiku’s team was no longer coming. They shifted the meeting to this weekend. Wike’s team then accompanied the governor to the birthday celebration of former Governor Peter Odili”.He said Obi only learnt about the presence of Wike’s people and decided to rush down to Port Harcourt to meet with them. He said: “Someone must have told Obi about the presence of Wike’s team. He rushed down to Port Harcourt. He simply wanted to cash into the opportunity. They all met behind closed doors.”Though the subject matter was not disclosed, it bordered on the 2023 presidential election. He wanted Wike and his team to support him. Obi didn’t attend the Odili’s birthday”.Other sources in Government House also confirmed that Obi met with the Governor.
