The Elemure of Emure-Ekiti, Oba Emmanuel Adebowale Adebayo, has passed away. According to reports, the traditional ruler joined his ancestors on Thursday in Lagos after a brief illness.

Although the palace chiefs and family members have not made an official announcement, a reliable source confirmed the news to our reporter.

Oba Adebayo was enthroned in 2008 and was a direct descendant of Late Oba Simeon Aminmin II, who reigned in Emure Ekiti from 1953-1963. During his reign, he worked tirelessly for the development of Emure Ekiti and was loved by his people.

The late Elemure was a retired Chief of Police, Nigeria, and is survived by his wife, Olori Mary Iyabo Adebayo, and children.

The news of his passing has been met with sadness and tributes from the people of Emure Ekiti and beyond. He will be deeply missed.
