
EKITI STATE SHINES AT 3RD STRATA BASE NATIONAL OPEN SENIOR KARATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Rivers State, May 1st -4th – Ekiti State made a impressive mark at the 3rd Strata Base National Open Senior Karate Championship, held in Rivers State, by winning a total of 4 bronze medals.
The championship, which took place at the civic center in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, brought together top karate athletes from across Nigeria, all vying for national honors.
Ekiti State’s contingent, comprising six athletes, put up a strong showing, with three of their athletes winning bronze medals in different categories.
The medal winners from Ekiti State are:
*Oluwatoba Motunrayo, who won bronze in the female Kumite -55kg category
*Akinwamide Esther oluwadamilola,who won bronze in the female Kumite -61kg category
*Usman Esther, who won bronze in the Female Kumite 68kg category
Oluwatoba Motunrayo, who won bronze in the Female Kata category
This achievement marks a significant improvement for Ekiti State, who had previously won only one medal in the previous edition of the championship.
Reacting to the team’s performance, Coach opara okechuku expressed his delight, saying “I am proud of our athletes, they have worked hard and deserve this success. We will continue to build on this achievement and aim for even greater heights in the future”.
The 3rd Strata Base National Open Senior Karate Championship was hosted by the Rivers State Karate Association, under the auspices of the Nigeria Karate Federation.
